Comparing The Friday the 13th Part 2 Double Impalement

It has long been discussed that the Friday the 13th series has borrowed death scenes from other horror films that preceded the series. Most notably, Italian horror films have been viewed as the basis for a number of kills in slasher movie history. Friday the 13th Part 2 contains one of the most debated death scenes in the franchise in relation to borrowing from these Italian films.

For those of you that do not know, a 1971 film titled Twitch of the Death Nerve featured a double impalement kill almost exact to Sandra and Mark's death in Friday the 13th Part 2. It is so much alike that it could very well be a remake scene. When asked about possibly copying the scene, the filmmakers from Part 2 claim that they never even heard of Twitch of the Death Nerve, let alone watched the movie

So, did Steve Miner and Ron Kurz “borrow” a scene or did they create it not knowing a very similar kill already existed? Below is a video from Scabboy’s Youtube Channel that compares the two scenes in question.

  1. I always thought that they had to pull this scene from Twitch. It is way too similar to be a coincidence. The scene is cool however.
