Will We Ever See A Polarized 3D Friday The 13th Part 3 Release On Home Video?
When Friday The 13th Part 3 was released in theaters in 1982, it was during a 3D resurgence in Hollywood and newer technology was being developed to enhance the experience and hopefully sell more tickets to feature films. Part 3 utilized a Polarized 3D process for which audiences would use glasses to see 3 dimensional objects, but NOT in the traditional red and blue spectrum (known as anaglyph) that many people have come to know now. The theatrical experience was flawless and possibly one of the best 3D experiences ever created.
Upon the release of the 2009 Deluxe Edition of Part 3, many fans complained of getting headaches from the anaglyph process. So the question has always been will fans ever get that unique theatrical experience for the film in the Polarized 3D process that the film was intended to use? There are bootlegs of the film floating about for decades now, but you need a converter to make it all work.
Perhaps one day fans will get an official release from the studio and fans will feel like they are watching Part 3 for the first time all over again.
