Producer Brad Fuller Talks Friday The 13th 2015: Found Footage, The Right Script, If Jason Is In The Film

Ever since it was announced that Paramount Pictures had set a release date of March 13, 2015 for the next Friday The 13th film, many fans have been waiting to hear news from Paramount Pictures or the production company Platinum Dunes on what the 13th film in the franchise would be about. We reported on a Hitfix story that confirmed the next film would indeed be found footage, which has outraged a nunber of our readers. Fans can now get a little bit of insight (or more questions) as Crave Online gained an exclusive sit down with producer Brad Fuller.

Here's what Brad had to say about getting the film out for the March 2015 release date:

"It's a matter of getting a script that we all love, that we feel like we can execute in a great way. That's always the battle, isn’t it?"

And here is Fuller on using Found Footage:

"It's something that we're looking at, yeah. I never know because it depends on the story and what the story is. It's been reported, that's something that we're looking into, but I can't tell you definitively that that's what the movie is."

His take about Friday The 13th fans dismissing the found footage style:

"Well, I can understand that. The Purge was a little bit of a found footage movie. We have a movie called Welcome to Yesterday that’s a found footage movie. I’m well acquainted with some very loud members of the audience who hate found footage and I understand that. I think for us it’s more about what the story is and what’s the best way to tell it. Until we figure out exactly what the story is for the next Friday the 13th movie, I can’t tell you what it’s going to be."

And the most interesting quote about Jason Voorhees being in the film and if Derek Mears will return:

"I don't know, because I do'’t know if we're going to have Jason, I don't know which Jason we're going to have. I can tell you this: I love Derek Mears, I love working with him and he's a dream so we'd be lucky to have him,"

So there you have it, right from the one of the main people involved with the production. It sounds like there is still a lot up in the air, and for a film that is supposed ot be released in just a little over a year, you would think there would be a little more progress? Things should be heating up soon, so stay tuned for more news on the newest Friday The 13th film and read the entire Crave Online interview now!
