Derek Mears Appearing at Fangoria Sponsored Falls Horrorfest
The Niagara Falls Comic Con grows in stature and guest list
every year. This year being no
exception, Derek Mears has been added to the guest list for the Horrorfest
division of the convention which is scheduled to occur June 6th to 8th
at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls Canada. Mears is of course known to Friday fans as
Jason from 2009’s Friday the 13th, as well as taking on former Jason
Kane Hodder (quite unsuccessfully) in Hatchet III. Sponsored by Fangoria and attended by Editor
in Chief himself Chris Alexander, the horror corner will also host franchise
familiars R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface: TCM III), Tyler Mane (Michael Myers;
RZ’s Halloween), Tony Todd (Candyman), and FX artist Paul Jones. The convention will also be attended by the
Goblin Head truck from Stephen King’s flick Maximum Overdrive.
The Falls Horrorfest has definitely had a history of being
Friday friendly. 2013’s event included
two of the franchise’s alumni with both Corey Feldman and Kane Hodder in
attendance. To top it off, a special event
hosted by Chris Alexander in the evening by special ticket only had a 50 person
limit Q&A session with Mr. Hodder himself, followed by a screening of
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood with live running commentary
from Kane. While the schedule of special
events for this year’s convention has not yet been published, there is hope
that Mears may have a similar event added. Not to mention, as can be seen above, the convention's logo even has the infamous hockey mask and machete as it's centerpiece.
