Friday The 13th Camp Tour 3 Postponed From 2014 Date
Friday The 13th fans have enjoyed the two previous camp tours which allowed franchise aficionados the chance to visit the original camp shooting location of Friday The 13th 1980. The camp is located in New Jersey and ever since last September, our readers have been wondering when the next tour would take place. The camp organization and volunteers were hoping to announce the third tour this Spring, but it looks as though a tour in 2014 will not happen.
We just learned that a construction project has delayed the camp from being open in time for a Friday The 13th tour this coming June. Read on to find out more.
From The Camp No_Be_Bo_Sco Release
You might have heard of the Susquehanna-Roseland Electric Reliability Project in the news. This utility project affects the 45-mile long power line that passes through 16 towns in New Jersey. This power line has also spanned the south end of Sand Pond at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco since the 1930s.
This massive $790 million project has had a huge impact on the camp since the lines cross the road into camp and hover over the main parking area. The work to replace these lines started in the fall after our summer camp program ended and has postponed all activities at the camp since then. The project was scheduled to finish at the beginning of June, but the harsh winter introduced delays in the construction of the new towers which pushed the schedule deeper into June.
Of course, our main priority is the Scouting program. We were really excited about the opportunity to welcome more dedicated movie fans for a 3rd public tour, but the gap has now closed between this utility project and the ramp-up for our summer camp program (now entering its 87th consecutive season).
The tours are usually set up on a Friday The 13th date and since 2014 only holds one such date, it is a good bet that fans will have to wait until 2015 for the next tour. We'll keep and eye out for more tour news as it becomes available.
