Is The Friday The 13th (2015) Release Date In Jeopardy Of Moving Again?
Last year, Paramount announced the original release date for their much anticipated Friday The 13th film as being March 13th, 2015. As production on the Jason Voorhees film never took off as quickly as expected, the studio decided to move their zombie comedy film Scouts vs Zombies into the March 13th, 2015 slot and the new Friday The 13th film was bumped back to a November 13, 2015 release. In hindsight, it was a really good move as it gave Platinum Dunes a chance to put everything together to give fans an awesome new film in the franchise. However, it has been pretty much quiet on the production of the film for the past few months, and now something very interesting just took place.
Announced yesterday, Paramount Pictures has now changed the release date of Scouts vs Zombies once again and it now resides on the release calendar at October 30, 2015. This is just two weeks before Friday The 13th (2015) is set to make it's debut in theaters. Is Paramount really going to release two of their own genre films this close to each other? They could, but why would they have their films compete that closely with each other?
Keep in mind that there has been no announcement on if a script has been approved or a production start date. Only Director David Bruckner has been officially brought onto production besides Platinum Dunes producing the film. Hopefully, things stay where they are, but don't be surprised if another shift is made in the Friday The 13th release schedule.
