Film Props: Paintballer Burt And His Arm From Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6
Apparently, Jason just wanted another Machete to use, since he had been without his weapon of choice after being buried in a cemetery for a number of years. It was unfortunate for company exec and paintball extraordinaire Burt that he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, however, it was very lucky for the fans!
Today's featured prop comes from Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6 and is that very character's arm that was ripped off when Jason decided he liked his machete. The prop arm was originally purchased by collector Matthew Perlman, who was nice enough to share some of his photos of the item with us a few years ago. Matthew attained the prop through an eBay transaction and had the following to say about the purchase when we asked him about the circumstances surrounding the sale.
This came from a friend of the prop master, and I guess like any other person that's been around the industry for many years, they move on and get rid of the past.
This arm is a very unique prop outside of the more sought after hockey masks and Jason Voorhees costumes from the films. Although, it may seem a bit morbid to showcase a severed limb for a collection, the prop has a historic place etched in the pantheon of the Friday The 13th film franchise.
Another rare treat for fans is a very rare behind the scenes photo from the day of shooting the scene with Burt (Wallace Merck). A big thank you to Matthew Perlman for all of the information and photos!
