Big Announcement Coming For Friday The 13th Themed Video Game 'Summer Camp'

Last November it was officially announced that a Friday The 13th themed video game called Summer Camp would be produced by Gun Media and creator Wes Keltner. The development team has already enlisted the help of Horror icons and Friday The 13th alumni such as effects legend Tom Savini, legendary composer Harry Manfredini, and Jason Voorhees himself, Kane Hodder. The trio has been brought in to help collaborate in creating a Summer camp themed slasher video game in the vein of the Friday The 13th films. This new game will be the first in a series of themed slasher games, but it is no secret that Summer Camp is an ode to Friday The 13th.

The game has been mentioned to eventually be available on PC, Xbox and Playstation in the near future, but nothing solid has been announced about the game in the last five months. The lack of news is about to change, however, as the game's website (summercampgame.com) has been revamped and put into countdown mode with a vintage VCR machine! It seems as though a big announcement is coming for the game in the next few days and we can only guess at what it could be.

More than likely, we will be finding out the release date and/or consoles the game will be available on, but wouldn't it be interesting if Gun Media announces that Summer Camp is becoming the official Friday The 13th video game! It's a stretch, but a fun conversation that has been circulating around the community over this past summer. Stay tuned to find out what the future holds for this highly anticipated game.

UPDATE: We were right, This is now Friday The 13th: The Game!

About Summer Camp
Summer Camp sets a group of Teen Counselors against a player-controlled stalker called The Killer. The Killer utilizes advantages in mobility and an arsenal of weapons to hunt other players across the seemingly-tranquil Camp Forrest Green. He or she will also be able to harness the environment of the camp to use against the Teen Counselors. The Counselors are a group of 6-7 players relying largely on stealth and evasion to survive. The Teens will need to monitor the level of noise they create and search for weapons to fend off The Killer while locating escape vehicles. The Counselors can work together as a team or split up to tackle the situation alone, and the creators promise both paths have risks and rewards. Beyond the presence of these iconic locales, the developers hope to evoke the spirit of 80s slasher flicks by simulating the low-budget lighting and equipment conditions used to create these movies. The game engine is being designed to replicate the grain, color, and blur typical of a cheap film recording and subsequent VHS transfer.
