Highly Anticipated Friday The 13th Fan Film 'Never Hike Alone' Receives Release Date
During May 2016, we helped debut one of the best looking trailers for a Friday The 13th fan film we've seen in a long time with Womp Stomp Films' Never Hike Alone. The trailer had a very unique style and energy that could lend to a very interesting setup for a classic, yet very effective stalk and slash film.
Never Hike Alone follows the story of KYLE MCLEOD (Andrew Leighty), an avid backcountry hiker who, while on a solo backpacking trip, discovers the long lost remains of CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE. Ignoring the campfire stories from his childhood, Kyle’s curious nature draws him in to see what is left of the camp which has been closed ever since the infamous 1980 Friday the 13th murders.
However, Kyle’s innocent search of the camp turns deadly when he is attacked by Camp Crystal Lake's last remaining resident, JASON VOORHEES. Stranded alone in the middle of the wilderness, with no equipment, and a legendary mass murderer on his heels, Kyle’s survival skills will be put to the test like never before. Will he make it out of the woods alive or become another victim of the infamous cursed camp?
The second trailer debuted online this past January and is extremely exciting and hints at the type of films we as fans would like to see official films in the franchise be produced like. Since then, however, we have not heard too much about the film, but now we have an exciting announcement to make. Never Hike Alone will debut online on Friday October 13th!

Produced by Barry Jay, Kyle Klein, Daniel Evans, and Sarah DiSanti, filming for Never Hike Alone began in October of 2016 and officially wrapped principle photography on July 17, 2017. The production cost roughly $40,000 and was partially funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year.
Originally slated to release in the summer of 2017, the production experienced a six week to due weather and scheduling conflicts at the start of filming which pushed back the release date.
The project is currently in post-production with a final running time still to be determined. However, after receiving countless requests from fans to extend the length of the film, the team is confident they have surpassed their original estimate of 22-minutes.
Never Hike Alone will release to the public for free via streaming sites like YouTube and Vimeo. The team is also in the process on arranging live screenings with more details to come at a later date.
