Watching Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6 In Black And White

Friday The 13th fans are always looking for a new way to experience the films in the franchise. Lets face it, most of us have watched these films one hundred times over throughout the decades since they were released in theaters. There are a lot of people that read this website that never saw Friday The 13th Part 3 in actual 3-D when it was released in theaters back in 1982. When there is a rare showing of this film on 35MM film and utilizing the original 3-D technique, it is a huge event as fans are able to experience the film for the first time as it was meant to be seen.

Director Tom McLoughlin once mentioned in an interview that his film Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6 was filmed as a more Gothic entry into the franchise and that audiences could watch the film in black and white and experience the darker undertones. Yes, the film has humor, but there are some genuinely frightening moments found throughout Jason Lives and watching the film without color could add some genuine creepiness to the fifth sequel in the franchise. Fans could watch the other films in the franchise in black and white as well, but it is true that there is a more Gothic look to Part 6 and it does hearken back to the classic monster movies from Universal Pictures.

Has anyone watched Jason Lives in black and white previously, and if so, what did you think? Was it better, the same, or slightly worse?
