Want Platinum Dunes To Produce Another Friday The 13th Film? They Really Want To.
This past March, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, part of the producing team from Platinum Dunes, discussed their latest ill-fated attempt to bring Jason back to the big screen in 2017. Among many topics discussed was the prospect of the company continuing to pursue another Friday The 13th film, even after numerous failed attempts to make a follow up to their 2009 film. The team is adamant they will make another film, and that was further expressed in an article this past Saturday published at We Got This Covered.
Andrew Form tells the site:
Would our readers like to see Platinum Dunes back in control of Jason Voorhees? Who would be a better option outside of the Michael Bay led company?
Andrew Form tells the site:
There’s a lawsuit going on and the rights are a little messed up. But rest assured, we are doing everything we can to be involved with that and we wholeheartedly believe that another version, another incarnation of Friday the 13th, needs to be made and brought out to the world, and we’re gonna do everything we can to do it. Every year, we look at the schedule and say, ‘When’s the next Friday the 13th? When can we have a movie ready?’ We love Jason and we hope we can make another one.
Friday the 13th is the one for us, because we were so close to filming that version about a year and a half ago, and we loved the screenplay we had and we were so close on that one. I think that’s the one out of everything we’ve done in the past, except for [Teenage Mutant Ninja] Turtles… We hope to bring another Turtles movie out. But I think Jason is the one right now for us that we’d love to get our hands on.Members of Platinum Dunes have been very vocal of late about their need to make another Friday The 13th film. Would this be a great move for the franchise? On one hand, you have a company who really knows what it takes to produce a film in the franchise, but on the other hand it would make sense to bring in another company to breathe new life into a series that has not been in theaters in almost a decade.
